Cenit Programme

The CENIT (Consorcios Estratégicos Nacionales en Investigación Técnica) programme is an initiative from the MICINN (Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación) to fund integrated research projects in order to improve the competitiveness of the Spanish industries. These projects are a challenge to the enterprises part of the consortium that could not be faced by the companies themselves.

ICIQ participates in two projects:

CENIT MEDIODIA (2007 – 2010)

The MEDIODIA (Multiplicación de Esfuerzos para el Desarrollo, Innovación, Optimización y Diseño de Invernaderos Avanzados) project is led by Repsol YPF and it counts with the participation of other companies such as Acciona, Ulma, Cajamar, Agrobio, Biomiva, Ingeteam and Grupo AN. The project is about the development of highly automated greenhouses, which minimize the consumption of water and energy, and which allow growing different cultures in a variety of climates.
This project incorporates I+D activities in the field of materials, electromechanic systems, biological systems, products, co-products and wastes management, and the use of water and renewable energies.
ICIQ brings to this project its expertise in the field of photovoltaic technology applied to flexible substrates.

CENIT NEOGENIUS PHARMA (2009 – 2012)

The NEOGENIUS project is headed to the development of new compounds for pain treatment in patients with degenerative osteoarthritis, including the selection of candidates for pre-clinic development with analgesic effect, safety and improved effectiveness, which could be developed and launched for sale.
Almirall, Esteve and Palau Pharma are part of this project in the same way  they had participated in the previous CENIT Genius Pharma (2006 – 2009) project. In fact, this project keeps the collaboration with several research centers and PIMEs that already existed in the Genius Pharma project, including the collaboration with ICIQ.
ICIQ brings to this project its expertise in several catalytic transformations for the synthesis of libraries of compounds.
